Told through the eyes of Niko, an adorable baby turtle, this story blends humor, hope, and heart as he overcomes his early struggles in the NICU to become a happy, healthy little turtle—just like all the other baby turtles. With gentle illustrations and a light, reassuring tone, NIKO in the NICU is designed to comfort families during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives, while helping young siblings and children understand the journey in a way that’s accessible and uplifting.
Each year, approximately 350,000 babies in the U.S. spend time in the NICU. NIKO in the NICU is the book the authors wished they had during their NICU journey to read to their baby in the NICU and other son at home to better understand the NICU. They believe it can be a must-have for hospitals, parents of NICU babies, and NICU support organizations nationwide. A portion of the sales of the book goes to to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Niko in the NICU, which supports NICUs and NICU families across the State of Michigan.
